Downtown Winston-Salem!!

I've been working as a Spanish Medical Interpreter for the last two years, and I have to say it is an awesome job! My co-workers and I interpret for the medical community and patients at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. Wake forest also is a University, so the interpreters help train future physicians and physician assistants on how to work with an interpreter when seeing a spaish speaking patient.

Yesterday, April 29, my supervisor asked me if I wanted to help with the training. I immediately said yes! So I drove Downtown to where the training was going to be...and boy was I surprised!

The buildings are part of the "new" Wake Forest University "campus".... and I write "new" because the building used to belong to RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company. They donated these huge buildings where tobacco used to be dried, chopped and made into cigarettes. Wake Forest did an awesome job restoring the buildings!! These are very old buildings, and the remodeling was done in a way the maintained the industrial look to it..it looks awesome!! So here are just a few photos of the buildings.

I just love the way these buildings look! Hope you enjoyed these photos!

Asheville!

A while ago, I went with a friend to the town of Asheville. It is an awesome place! A kind of hippie place in the mountains...lots of vegan restaurants, street musicians. There are no franchise restaurants/cafes! Everything is local. There are many beautiful hotels. I've been there a few times already and I never get tired of the place. Many local artists, jewelry makers, antiques, odds and ends. If you ever come to North Carolina you definitely have to come to Asheville!

Laugh, Love, Hope...

At an awesome crepe restaurant...gluten free!

Old Nancy Drew books!!

At the Omni hotel.

My Converse and me! Perfect for Asheville!

Smokey Mountains...

Tulips

Don't know the name of these, but love their color!

And besides being in such an interesting place,  the weather was perfect! Ahhh...spring is beautiful!

Earrings!

I love to look at blogs that use old things for new purposes!! And I also  LOVE earrings, and I had a lot of them all tangled up in a little box. On one of these blogs I saw how an old picture frame was transformed for hanging earrings, so I went to the Salvation Army store, bought a .97 cent wooden frame, got some gorgeous paper at World Matket, and some wire...a few minutes later I had made an awesome earring hanger!! So easy, cheap, and to my eyes, very pretty!!! So now I share it with you :)

Here is the finished project!

These are just a few of my collection of earrings, I will probably have to make at least 2 more...

Almost all my earrings have a story :)

Like these were made of melted glass by an artist friend from Mexico!

So this is my small project of the month. I will publish more as they are made...Thanks for reading!!!

Wedding!

In August 2014, I had the honor of helping a friend/co-worker of mine prepare her wedding. It was going to be celebrated on a North Carolina beach, so we decided an the ocean theme. I had tried my hand ay watercolor before, but was not sure how it would come out. Well I don't know about what others thought about it, but I loved the way they came out! Now mind, I am not a professional painter, but I really liked what I was able to create. The watercolors for the tables, gifts, nameplates were my creation. She and I both made  the chair decorations (with the starfish). She and her mom decorated the tables. I feel it all looks lovely, and though it was cloudy, the ceremony was beautiful!!!

Gifts were soaps in the form of sea urchins and shells...

The table had a burlap runner...

There were some blue and turquoise M&M's with the couple's initials..

The centerpiece was a candle with sand and seashells..

So nice...

I love the seahorse!

Each table had a sea design..here with the names of who sat where..

Chair decorations...

The bride and the groom!! Beautiful!

And me...
It was a very nice wedding!! I wish them both lots and lots of love!!

Snow!!

Last night we had a snow "storm". It snowed all night and I woke up to this!!! Beautiful, fluffy snow!! Love it...

The way the trees look, so beautiful! As I said before, snow is new to me and I really enjoy it. Everything is so white and silent! Familiar places and thing are completely transformed. No matter the season there is beauty in everything, including change. Tomorrow it will probably be gone, but I got to enjoy it today....
Wish everybody beauty and love in everything seen and done...
